Civil Law Review 2018:
Attorney Kevin Brockenbrough will discuss contract formations. He will explore sample contracts and compare effective vs ineffective language.
Attorney Catherine Bailey will discuss military divorce. She will address the notice issues and pension division issues and custody matters regarding deployed parents.
Professor Irving Joyner will discuss Contemporary Civil Rights Issues. This discussion will focus on the federal courts’ evolution on discrimination cases in universities, employment and sexual orientation cases.
Attorney Timothy Peterkin will discuss texting ethics. This discussion focuses on the new ethics opinions regarding text message advertising and other means of client communication.
Attorney Timothy Peterkin will discuss an amendment that was recently approved by the Supreme Court, trust accounting Rule 1.15-2, that requires checks drawn on a trust account to be signed by a lawyer or by an employee who is not responsible for performing monthly or quarterly reconciliations. He will review general rules and provide other tips for managing trust accounts.
